Summary
  1. This program includes a discussion of Derek Walcott's life and poetry, interspersed with readings by the poet and performances of musical settings to four of his works, as well as a song from O Babylon, a Galt MacDermot musical with lyrics by Walcott. Walcott talks about his Caribbean roots, his love of travel and painting, his embrace of poetry's past and traditions, and the need for more public performances of poetry. The composers each explain their approach to working with Walcott's words.
