Description

Summary
  1. Lourdes López moderates a panel discussion with Francia Russell and Kent Stowell, co-artistic directors of the Pacific Northwest Ballet. López provides an introduction and history of the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Russell and Stowell talk about what the Balanchine legacy means to each of them; the vision of the Pacific Northwest Ballet; training the dancers; what Balanchine's choreography was about; their collaboration as co-artistic directors and what things they wish they had accomplished; how difficult it is to leave the company. Stowell talks about the difficulties of choreographing while at the same time trying to build and educate an audience, while being true to your own creative process. Each talks about what they will miss and not miss in their role as artistic director.
