Summary
  1. This program includes two works incorporating music by Charles Wuorinen: Ashberyana, which incorporates poetry by John Ashbery; and Storage, choreographed by Pam Tanowitz. Moderator Fred Sherry talks with panelists, including composer, conductor, Charles Wuorinen, choreographer Pam Tanowitz and poet John Ashbery. John Ashbery discusses his definition of inspiration and what inspires him. Wuorinen talks about the process of creating Ashberyana, the instrumentation of the work, and different compositional styles. John Ashbury reads his poems utilized in Ashberyana and discusses how he feels about how his poetry was utllized in Ashberyana. Pam Tanowitz joins the panel. Wuroinen talks about how his approach to composition differs with the different musical forms and specifically talks about the music from the second movement. Tanowitz discusses her process of creating a dance piece from Charles Wuorinen's composition entitled Five.
