Summary
  1. As part of the New York City Ballet's 6th Diamond Project Festival of new works, Peter Martins hosts this program which highlights two works from the New York City Ballet's 2006 spring season: Two birds with the wings of one, choreographed by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux; and new ballet [subsequently title Slice to sharp] , choreographed by Jorma Elo. Martins moderates a panel discussion with Bonnefoux and Elo, which is interspersed with brief excerpts and coaching sessions from the two ballets. Bonnefoux and Elo discuss each of their ballets, including how they chose the music for each work; what inspires them as choreographers; and what it means to be a guest choreographer. Bonnefoux discusses how he came to dedicate his ballet to Betty Cage, General Manager of the NYC Ballet under Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein. Elo, resident choreographer with the Boston Ballet, talks about the evolution of his relationship with the company.
