  1. The Percy Bysshe Shelley manuscript material in the Pforzheimer Collection consists of writings and correspondence. The writings include: the holograph manuscript of his Philosophical View of Reform; the "Esdaile Notebook," a copybook containing over fifty early holograph poems; and extensive holograph revisions in a printed copy of his Queen Mab. The bulk of the correspondence is dated between 1816 and 1822 and discusses publishing matters, family arrangements and financial concerns. Correspondents include: his father-in-law, William Godwin, the philosopher and novelist; his second wife, Mary Shelley, his friends Thomas Love Peacock, Byron, Leigh Hunt, Thomas Jefferson Hogg, and over fifty others.
