  1. Disc 1 (ca. 59 min.). Keene Curtis speaks with Don McDonagh about working as Martha Graham's stage manager in the 1950s and 1960s; film acting in L.A., and moving to N.Y. in 1947; working at Henry Street Theater, starting as assistant stage manager for Graham's company, then becoming stage manager; touring with Graham, first in New England, and then to Europe and Asia; working with, and learning lighting techniques from, Jean Rosenthal; Jean Rosenthal's influence; touring with the Graham company on buses, including anecdotes about Graham wearing a veil as she slept; Erick Hawkins' role in the company, and Curtis's opinion of him; creating a stage direction bible used by the company to rebuild sets and stage plots; working for the actress, Katharine Cornell; Graham dancers and various anecdotes about personalities and performances; early criticism of Graham by audiences and people's misunderstanding of her art; Graham's interest in stage aesthetics; touring with Graham in Israel; Graham's issues regarding alcohol consumption [abrupt end].
