- Summary
- A docu-drama on a highly controversial figure in American life. Booker T. Washington was the undisputed leader of Black America at the turn of the century. His policies of Black economic self-reliance and political accomodation to reactionary white power were debated nationwide. They brought him into conflict with other leaders of the Black community as well as liberal and progressive whites. Tuskegee Institute was a monument to his dynamism, enterprise and strategy for Black survival.
