Description
  1. 3 film reels (95 min.) : sd., col.; 16 mm.
Summary
  1. Based on the short stories of midwestern humorist Jean Shepherd who also narrates in the first person, this episodic comedy film is set in the 1940's and centers on the life of Ralphie Parker as Christmas approaches. Ralphie desires a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas and embarks on a spirited campaign to convince his resistant parents to get him one. Among Shepherd's childhood reminiscences are Ralphie's narrow escape from neighborhood bullies, the "old man's" battles with a stubborn furnace and his infatuation with a lamp that looks like a woman's leg, and a nightmarish visit with Santa Claus at the local department store.
