- Summary
- This trilogy of video work concerns themes of viewer passivity versus viewer control, the appropriation of media, mass hypnosis and humor. "In Line" (1986, 10 min.) confronts the sado-masochism of the TV viewer experience. In direct address, Conrad batters the audience with a parodic display of mind control. "An Immense Majority" (1987, 10 min.) contrasts an inert couch potato with the viewer's later ruminations on a more natural presentation of real life drama. "Ipso Facto" (1985, 8 min.) is a story of technology, appropriation and authority.
