- Summary
- Consists of speech tracks only for program no. 1 including introductions, intermission and conclusion. Intermission feature: David Sarnoff, the former chairman of NBC, recounts the launching of the weekly radio concerts of classical music performed by the NBC Symphony Orchestra led by Maestro Toscanini in the 30es when radio was in its heyday and favored cultural programs. Sarnoff, after Toscanini resigned from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and returned to Europe, feeling as all music lovers of those days a tremendous loss, dispatched Toscanini's intimate friend, Samuel Chotzinoff to Italy to lure the maestro back to New York, and having been promised the creation of his very own orchestra and overcoming prejudices for recordings and radio transmissions, Toscanini returned to New York to lead one of the best orchestras in the world for seventeen years.
