Summary
  1. Documentary film, consisting of Samuel Pisar's memoirs and excerpts from the concert, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of WWII, held in Warsaw, Sept. 1, 1989. Samuel Pisar, Holocaust survivor, talks about his childhood and youth spent in the Warsaw ghetto and in the Auschwitz concentration camp, the loss of his whole family and his rescue at the age of 16 by American soldiers. His narration accompanied by vintage documentary black and white film footage. Program is introduced by Leonard Bernstein, who reads excerpts from W.H. Auden's poem, Sept. 1, 1939.
