Panelist discuss meeting Arthur Mitchell and their connections to Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH); the professionalism instilled in the dancers by Mitchell and Karel Shook; and the musicality of the company. Karen Brown discusses dancing with DTH and how she approached roles; Suzanne Farrell describes meeting and dancing with Arthur Mitchell at New York City Ballet, learning Agon, Ragtime, and Slaughter on tenth avenue with Mitchell, and staging ballets on DTH. Frederic Franklin reminisces about teaching the Paquita duet with Alexandra Danilova to DTH, and staging Swan lake and Giselle. Kellye A. Saunders discusses auditioning and joining DTH, and experiences during her career with the company. The panel discussion concludes with a brief question and answer session.
