Summary
  1. Panel discussion interspersed with performance excerpts with American Ballet Theatre dancers. Four issues are discussed: the American dance landscape prior to American Ballet Theatre (ABT) and its impact on that landscape ; the impact of full length narrative works on ABT ; the role of star dancer and choreographers ; the experience of principal dancers through the generations. Discussion includes Donald Saddler meeting Lucia Chase, Michel Fokine and Antony Tudor's influence on ABT, working with and learning Natalia Makarova's La bayadère, and Lupe Serrano and Susan Jaffe performing in Swan lake.
