[Begins with ca. 50 sec. of unidentified music, which ends abruptly.] Pauline Koner reminisces about José Limón, in particular their last meeting in person, and his death (ca. 7 min.); Koner states the time and circumstances of having made the prior recording, namely May 11, 1974. From ca. 3:20 min. into track 2 to ca. 1:10 min. into track 5, Koner reminisces about Yeichi Nimura, including learning of his death, their long association, and how he affected her life; reflects on the deaths of people who were important to her, including Limón, Nimura, and Fritz [Fritz Mahler, Koner's husband]. From ca. 1:20 min. into track 5 to 2:45 min. into track 5, the recording consists of a series of recorded telephone messages from Elizabeth [Elizabeth Hathaway; professionally known as Lisan Kay] to Koner regarding Nimura's death and memorial service [held on April 18, 1979]; from ca. 2:50 min. into track 5 to ca. 3:40 min. into track 6, Koner reminisces further about Nimura, the love she felt for him and the profound emotions he evoked in her; Koner states the time and circumstance of this last recording, namely Sept. 19, 1980. 1. Pauline Koner records various memories of José Limón (recorded on May 11, 1974) and Yeichi Nimura (recorded on April 8, 1979 and Sept. 19, 1980) as well as her feelings about the death of her mother (recorded immediately after her death on May 7 and 8, 1975, and four years later, on June 16, 1979), and her feelings on the sixth anniversary of the death of her husband, Fritz Mahler (recorded on June 19, 1979). The recording also includes what appears to be a series of very brief recorded telephone messages made in April, 1979, from Lisan Kay [born Elizabeth Hathaway] to Koner regarding Nimura's death and his memorial service.
2. Sound quality is good. There is a continuous extraneous hiss and short gaps but the speaker's voice is always intelligible.
