  1. Gould produced a contrapuntal radio documentary based on Capriccio, called The Bourgeois Hero. It was broadcast on CBC radio program Mostly music on April 2 and 9, 1979. Eight voices comment on and reminisce about the composer Richard Strauss and analyze his music, which is heard throughout. The voices of participants are those of German conductor Wolfgang Sawallisch, German/American critic Henry Levinger, British conductor Norman Del Mar, American author Jonathon Cott, Canadian philosopher Geoffrey Payzant, British author and record producer John Culshaw, German composer Wolfgang Fortner and American composer Stanley Silverman.
