Summary
  1. Interviews with well-known Jewish actors and actresses, many of whom could not get on Broadway, and started or developed their careers as comedians on Catskills (Upstate New York) resorts stages in the 1940's-1960's. Includes interviews with such comedians as Joel Grey, Alan King, Jan Murray, Murray Waxman, Buddy Hackett and others. Joel Grey speaks about his early career as a child and teenage actor who also started performing in Catskills resorts together with his father Mickey Katz, an actor, comedian, and musician. Grey shares his memories about his father and his family, plays various sketches, and sings English-Yiddish parodies ("Borscht capades") that his father wrote and performed together with him in the 1940's. Also includes documentary on Catskills resorts that were popular vacation spots for New York City Jews from the 1920's up to the 1970's, and scenic views of the Catskill Mountains.
