Panel discussion 1: Ella Baff tells the back story of Restless Creation and how Jacob's Pillow became involved, Wendy Whelan discusses the creation of Shen Wei's Body Study III, adjusting to the music, working in the studio with Shen Wei with this work being his only creation on pointe, how Whelan began the Restless Creature project and working with various choreographers for New York City Ballet (William Forsythem Laura Dean, Ulysses Dove), working with the four choreographers, how Jerome Robbins formed her as a dancer and how different that is from working with these four young choreographers, how much discussion was there with each choreographer before the process began, and setting up the next piece by Joshua Beamish. Panel discussion 2: The four choreographers and Wendy Whelan discuss the creation process for each of their dances and working with Whelan, the different dance backgrounds of each choreographer and how that has influenced this process, Whelan talks about the trust and chemistry needed for a pas de deux and the inner narrative used in a male/female duet, how important women were in Balanchine's works compared to this project, and setting up the next piece by Brian Brooks.
