Joe Franklin, the host of the radio show, Lucille Armstrong, the wife of Louis Armstrong, Dan Morgenstern, jazz critic, Sy Oliver, jazz arranger, trumpeter, composer, singer and bandleader, Illinois Jacquet, jazz tenor saxophonist, and Jack Bradley, Armstrong's close friend, a jazz photographer and a collector of Armstrong's memorabilia, pay tribute to Armstrong, reminisce and tell anecdotes and stories about him. They remember Armstrong as a great musician and a wonderful person: they speak about his sense of humor, his hot temper, mood, character, influence, his particular vocal style, the simplicity of his nature, his approach to religion, his fondness of vitamins, his manager Joe Glaser, and much more. The program includes the following music works: "When you're smiling" performed by Armstrong ; unidentified blues performed by Illinois Jacquet ; "Rockin' Chair" by composer Hoagy Carmichael, performed by Armstrong and Jack Teagarden ; "Thanks a million" performed by Armstrong.
