Programs, clippings, correspondence and photographs were collected in preparation for the touring exhibition, Classic Black, a collaboration between the Dance Collection of the New York Public Library and the Dance Research Foundation, on the theme of black classical ballet artists of the 1930s to 1970s, which opened at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on February 9, 1996.
