Summary
  1. A documentary exploring the history of the Negro Ensemble Company, through interviews with the co-founders and some of the actors of this premiere Black theater company. Includes performance excerpts from several plays associated with the troupe, including Day of absence, Song of the Lusitanian Bogey, The River Niger, Home, Zooman and the sign, and A soldier's play, known in its film adaptation as A soldier's story.
