- Summary
- Studio portraits, informal posed portraits, and candid shots of singer and actor Gilbert Price from the 1960s to 1970s, consisting of head shot to three-quarter length studio portraits, probably used for publicity purposes; outdoor portraits of Price playing the flute; and views of Price teaching the English class of his friend Warren Allen Smith at New Canaan, Connecticut, High School (1974). Price's personal life and theatrical performances are not depicted.

- Gilbert Price, 1942-1991, was a New York City born and raised African American baritone and actor, who first received critical notice for his Off-Broadway perfromance in Langston Hughes's "Jerico-Jim Crow" (1964). During his Broadway career he received four Tony Award nominations for "Lost in the Stars" (1972), "The Night That Made America Famous" (1975), "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" (1976), and "Timbuktu!" (1978). Price died in Vienna, Austria, in 1991.
