"In addition to the well-known works, this collection also contains pieces edited for the first time (nos. 1-6): the 'Three Romanan folk tunes' touch upon songs that Bartók recorded with a phonograph during his travels researching folk music that he later documented and systemised in ethnomusicological books [piano arrangement of nos. 1 and 2 from the editor, piano arrangement of no. 3 created following Bartók's instructions]. The fragments nos. 4-6 have been carefully supplemented by the editor... The 'Little dialog' (no. 6), one of the supplemented fragments, has no title in the original manuscript. The title of the short piece was chosen by the editor"--Preface.
