- Summary
- As a child growing up in Texas, Bush loved playing baseball and getting into a bit of mischief. After graduating from Yale University and Harvard Business School, he returned to Texas to work in the oil industry. He entered the political arena in 1978, losing in his run to become a U.S. representative from Texas. In 1994, he won his bid to become the governor of Texas. Bush entered the 2000 presidential race, beating Al Gore in a close election. He became the forty-third president of the United States of America and the second son of a president to win the White House.
