Summary
  1. "The book centres on the evil effect of polygamous marriage. Mrs. Alice Robinson, Rachael's mother died as a result of the psychological and emotional problem she suffered when her husband married another wife. Alice was neglected and this led to a withdrawal syndrome on her part. Thereafter, Rachael suffered a lot in the hand of the wicked step-mother after the death of her own biological mother. Aminat, the wicked step-mother tried to exchange Rachael's destiny with that of her own children, having discovered that Rachaei was brilliant at school. Her effort in this regard proved abortive. Eventually, Rachael's father, too, abandoned her and her education was taken over by a family friend. In the end, it was discovered that Aminat, Mr. Robinison's second wife was the one behind the way Robinson maltreated his first child. Find out what happened to Rachael, Aminat and Mr. Robinson at the end of the story"--back cover.
