  1. Uses animation to detail the mechanisms controlling the operation of our nerves, providing a clearer understanding of the central nervous system and its intricate chemistry. Presents research on the central nervous system that has aided in the treatment of nervous disorders. Covers formation and propagation of Action Potentials, the action of voltage activate and ligand gated ion channels, the transmission of nerve signals across synapses, and the role of transmitters, agonists, antagonists, and second messengers. Describes the search for new drugs to treat nervous disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease, and for stroke prevention, depression, and anxiety. Demonstrates micro electrode techniques used in studying brain slices and patch clamp techniques used in studying single neurons.
