Summary
  1. A reevaluation of Jewish-Christian relations throughout history from a Christian perspective in an effort to denounce deep-rooted anti-Jewish prejudices based on ignorance. States that not the Jews but the Pharisees were responsible for Christ's death, and differentiates between anti-Judaism as a religion-related term and antisemitism, ethnically-related. Jews were discriminated against for their religion, but after conversion they would have no need to fear racial discrimination. This anti-Judaism led to the creation of the negative image of the Jew during the Early Church period. Recalls the long series of anti-Jewish persecution in Christian Europe from the Crusades through the Inquisition and the Holocaust. Pp. 239-275 refer to contemporary Christian-Jewish dialogue and "Nostra aetate".
