- Summary
- Memoirs of a Jewish woman, born in 1925 in Kisvárda, Hungary. After the German occupation in March 1944 the Jews were forced to move to the ghetto. In May 1944 Eggens, her parents, and her two sisters were deported from there to Auschwitz. Later, she and one of her sisters were sent to the Weisswasser labor camp in Germany; in February 1945 they walked 40 kilometers to the Horneburg labor camp, and from there they were transported to the Berndorf labor camp, where they were liberated by the Swedish Red Cross. Eggens lives in Stockholm; her parents and younger sister perished in Auschwitz.
