Summary
  1. Since the early 60's intelligent systems have been developed which are capable of understanding natural language sentences, of answering questions according to their knowledge bases, or of carrying out commands. In recent years, in numerous countries, in well known research institutes and government research programs, attempts have been made to develop natural language systems of communication with computers. This publication should facilitate the exchange of information concerning the present state of research in this area.
