Valentine album
Born into the English gentry, Elizabeth Cobbold published her first volume of poetry at age 18 and issued three more before she married. Her first husband died only six months after they wed, and her second already had 15 children, all minors. The couple went on to have six of their own, and she cared for all 21. Cobbold is now most remembered for her cut-paper valentines, which she gave out at Valentine’s Day parties for young single people. Cobbold made duplicates by cutting multiple leaves of paper and the extras were compiled into albums like this one.
