  • STEAM Discovery Kits

    Build, code, and investigate with NYPL’s amazing STEAM Discovery Kits! Available to borrow from Charleston Library and select other branches across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, these kits enable kids and tweens to explore robotics, circuitry, microbiology, engineering, coding, and more using exciting tools, toys, and books at home.

    NYPL After School is a free program for children ages 6-12 to get homework help from one of our tutors or Teen Reading Ambassadors, reading recommendations, fun writing, enrichment activities—and even snacks! No need to register, just show up!

About the Library

Charleston Library opened in March 2022 to serve the south shore neighborhood of Staten Island. This 10,000-square-foot sustainable building is the first net-zero energy library in New York City, and offers two state-of-the-art community spaces and designated learning commons for children, young adults, and adults. Charleston is designed to offer an array of programming, classes, and workshops for all.
