The ongoing renovation of the 107-year-old Melrose Library will significantly improve the infrastructure of the building and enhance service for all patrons, as well as add a new, additional top floor (which was lost decades ago in a fire) and feature dedicated and flexible spaces for programming, along with individual reading areas for adults, children, and teens.
Update: Following the restoration of Library funding in the FY25 City budget, NYPL looks forward to reopening this location in the near future. We expect to have a timeline soon. The Library’s Bookmobile will be frequenting the community. You can find the schedule on our Twitter page.

About the Library
The Melrose Branch of the New York Public Library on Morris Avenue and 162nd Street is a busy and active branch in the Bronx. Located within walking distance of Yankee Stadium and the borough's thriving court system, this air-conditioned library occupies almost 10,000 square feet and has separate reading rooms for children and adults.
