Selection of disguised anti-Nazi literature

Resisters regularly smuggled anti-Fascist publications, or Tarnshriften, into Nazi-controlled Germany in the years just before and during World War II. Typically issued by Communist organizations, these texts were often hidden within everyday objects like food packages, or concealed within innocuous-looking printed works such as tour guides, calendars, and instruction manuals. While they failed to incite the German population’s widespread resistance to the Nazi Party, these clandestine works stand today as moving symbols of human ingenuity, endurance, and defiance.
