Student Work
The Teen Curators Program curriculum pairs art history lessons with hands-on artmaking in hopes of bridging historical themes and styles with the contemporary experiences and issues teens face. The colorful posters on this wall are the teens’ responses to the aesthetics and messages from AfriCOBRA and the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and 70s. The featured prints were produced by Teen Curators with the help of Justin Sanz, Workshop Manager at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. The fabric art was inspired by a lesson on the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. All of these works reflect what the teens have learned about black history through artistic expression.
